Health Insurance for 1099 Workers

Paid on a 1099 in your state? You're buying your own coverage — and you have two markets to choose from, not one.

  • Subsidy check on your after-expense income
  • Private PPOs priced on health, not your 1099s
  • Enroll any month — no waiting for November

Takes about 60 seconds. Both markets, one call.

Two markets, one of them probably better for you

If your after-expense income qualifies for a HealthCare.gov subsidy, that is the most affordable coverage available and we will tell you so. If you are above the subsidy line and healthy — the usual profile for 1099 workers — a private PPO on the Cigna, Aetna and PHCS PPO network is priced on your health, not your income, and is typically 30–50% less than full marketplace price.

What to expect

A 15-minute call. We run both markets for your ZIP, check your doctors against the PPO network, and show you the numbers side by side. If private is a fit, enrollment takes about 15 minutes online and approval usually comes within 48 hours. If it is not, we help you pick the right marketplace plan.

Taxes

Self-employed people deduct 100% of premiums above the line on either kind of plan, and can stack HSA contributions on an HSA-eligible plan.
